Slings and Arrows
2003-6: Peter Wellington
A Canadian dramatic series in three short (six-episode) seasons, Slings and Arrows follows the fortunes of a Canadian Shakespeare festival much like the one at Stratford. Each of its three seasons integrates the story line with the production of one of the Bard’s best-known tragedies — the first season, Hamlet, the second season, Macbeth, and the third, King Lear. The writing is tight and the drama is surreal and brilliant.
Parents and teachers should be advised that this is not G-rated material — there is, in addition to the consumption of alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drugs, a good deal of fairly explicit sex and some rather raw vocabulary.
